Currently, Operational Services is working in La Cala on the boulevard and Torrox street and will also work on the streets Montejaque and Arriate

The work that the Mijas Town Hall has been driving since the beginning of the year to improve the pavements in various areas of the town, for which 127,000 euros have been allocated, continues and work is currently underway on the boulevard and Calle Torrox in La Cala. As the councillor for Operational Services, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), reported on Monday, the work "has already been carried out in several streets in Las Lagunas and Mijas Pueblo and now we are completing the work on the boulevard and Calle Torrox in La Cala, and then we will move on to Calle Montejaque and Calle Arriate to update the access to the Cala coastline".

These works are the renovation of the pavement, as well as improving accessibility by adapting the pedestrian crossings, implementing directional tactile paving for blind people, pictograms for cognitive adaptation and fixing the slopes of the ramps to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility. "With this renovation", continued Gómez Teruel, "the pavements are in line with everything being done in the municipality, above all, to improve accessibility for everyone, we are making the pavements much more accessible and we are also providing a solution to many neighbourhoods that had very pronounced slopes".

The department for Operational Services also plans on working on the streets of Montejaque and Arriate, where the paving and gardens will also be improved, and architectural barriers will be removed to improve access to the beach.

The three areas

These actions are being carried out in the three areas of Mijas, as the Operational Services area has undertaken these actions aimed at improving the pavements. Specifically, on Avenida Dinamarca, and in the streets Ciprés, Geranio, Topacio, Granate and Antonio Machado in Las Lagunas; and in Mijas Pueblo, on the streets Pablo Picasso and Tamisa.

These works have been carried out over a surface area of 1,100 square metres and the investment has been around 84,000 euros plus VAT. Currently, the works in La Cala have an estimated investment of 43,000 euros plus VAT and involve the remodelling of some 850 square metres.
