Our municipality continues to attract international attention. In this case, the prestigious magazine 'National Geographic' considers it to be one of the most beautiful villages of the 'White Malaga', in recognition to its typicality and Andalusian tradition. Nobody doubted its beauty, but international recognition is always an accolade.  

Among the best qualities of our municipality, the publication highlights "the sea, the good climate, the narrow streets, the white houses with flowerpots and an endless number of photo-worthy and attractive corners". The magazine highlights the "narrow streets, the obligatory visit to the Plaza de la Virgen de la Peña, and the sculpture of the donkey", the traditional emblem of Mijas. "An ideal place to get lost in", highlights this international tourism reference. The magazine's list also includes Casares, Nerja, Antequera, Ronda and Frigiliana.
