This Tuesday afternoon, a group of elderly people from Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas and La Cala, making a total of 165 retired people and pensioners from the municipality, arrived at 'Angélical, the Kingdom of the Christmas Angels'. They were delighted to be able to visit the light show in the Botanical Garden of La Concepción de Málaga free of charge. "It's beautiful, I was there last year too, but when I heard about this excursion, I said to myself: I'll come again because it's worth it, it's very beautiful", said Peña Lombardo, one of the participants, while another of the participants, José Antonio Moreno, said "it's very beautiful, I've never seen it before; every year I come to Malaga to see the lights, but I've never been here before and today it was so beautiful, so we'll come to Malaga at the end of the week".

Until January 7th, the Botanical Garden offers a magical journey full of sensations, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in a world of fantasy and history filled with lights and light shows such as a video mapping. In honour of the name of the show, the angels, who surprise visitors, along with other characters, by playing the violin or dancing, are not to be missed. "When we arrived, we saw a fairy singing and I said as soon as we got there: how nice; we liked it a lot and now, on top of that, we have been eating a little bit too, because there is a snack included", said Conchi Lombardo, a resident of Mijas Pueblo. A snack that some of the elderly turned into tapas, like Juan Jesús Peinado, who ate "a cartridge of potatoes and a cool beer because it's not cold enough for a coffee, it's warm".

Activity organised by the Department for the Elderly

The Department for the Elderly is organising this initiative, which includes two more excursions to this enclave, which has become a fairy tale of fantasy and history. Those interested can sign up at the offices of the Department in the three centres. This activity is part of the Christmas programme that the council has prepared for the elderly. This was stated by the councillor responsible for the department, Silvia Marín (PP), who accompanied the elderly on this excursion along with other councillors from Mijas. Marín confirmed that "everyone is already aware that, unfortunately, this year we will not be able to enjoy the meal that we offer as a tribute to the elderly at Christmas, but we have prepared an alternative with different excursions such as this one to the Botanical Garden or the one they made a few days ago to the nativity scene. 

And there is more. They are preparing New Year's Eve parties in the three centres for the active participation of our elderly, "where we are going to have a cotillion so that they can celebrate the holidays in company, which is what they want, to spend a little time together, to have fun; we are going to have a glass of cava and some canapés so that they can enjoy the night dancing and maybe we will even eat the grapes", concluded the councillor.

These meetings will take place from 19:30 to 21:30 on the 19th of December in the centre of Mijas Pueblo; on the 20th, in Las Lagunas; and on the 21st, in La Cala.
