As part of the so-called 'Cerrado' operation, agents belonging to different units of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil Command in Malaga have arrested two individuals as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of attempted murder and injury in Mijas.
The events occurred last December, when a telephone call was received at the Main Post of the Guardia Civil of Mijas reporting a shooting in the Cerrado del Águila urbanisation. Several patrols went to the scene, where they confirmed the facts, finding two injured individuals, one had a gunshot wound to the face with an entry and exit wound and the other had a bloody face due to the numerous blows received.
The investigation has established that the events took place when the two victims, of Cameroonian nationality, were trying to buy drugs using counterfeit banknotes. When the sellers realised the deception, they began to beat the two individuals, who managed to flee on foot, and it was during their escape that one of them was shot in the face with a bullet.
Perpetrators of the attack
The investigators made numerous efforts to identify the perpetrators of the attack, efforts that bore fruit several months later, when they were able to identify the two assailants, who turned out to be two Spaniards with numerous previous convictions for similar acts, and they were also able to determine which of the two individuals was the perpetrator of the attack with the firearm.
With this information, both persons were arrested in Mijas, and a search was subsequently carried out at their home, where the firearm that was used in the aggression, 100 counterfeit 50-euro notes, as well as various material with which they allegedly committed the criminal offences, such as gloves, balaclavas and a handmade battering ram, were found. After being brought before the court, the perpetrator of the shooting was remanded in custody.
