The councillor for Finance, Roy Pérez (PSOE), reported on Thursday on the general lines of the new Budget for 2024, which would include " an increase of around 5 million euros compared to the previous one in terms of expenditure".

In this regard, and as detailed by Pérez, the initial document would include "an amount of 29 million euros allocated to chapter 6, corresponding to the investment section, which would be used for very important projects for the development of the city such as the construction of the new car park in Las Lagunas, the works of the Grand Park, the new Fire Station, the works on the curve of La Alquería and Valtocado and the reform of various roads throughout the municipality". 

In the same way, and according to the councillor responsible for the area, "some 25 million are planned for chapter 2, corresponding to the provision of services, which would include the cleaning service in the town, which just over a year ago was launched with a new and much more ambitious contract, with the renewal of the fleet of containers, the expansion of the ratios and areas of sweeping, and the inclusion of the cleaning of urbanisations, among other aspects".

In addition, the councillor explains, "in line with the budgets previously approved" by the local executive, the Budget for the financial year 2024 "would again have a marked social character, including", among other items, 1.5 million for subsidies.

A Budget, explains Pérez, that "would be increased not only without raising taxes, as we have done all this time, but keeping them frozen, so that Mijas remains among the cities with the lowest tax burden in Spain and with zero debt".
