The hotel and catering establishments in Mijas are environmentally conscious. This has been demonstrated by 127 restaurants, bars and beach bars by joining, for yet another year, Ecovidrio's Green Flags Movement, which aims to recover and recycle one of the most common types of waste generated in summer, glass. This Thursday, from the Torreón square in La Cala, the fourth edition of this campaign was presented by the councillor for Cleaning of the Mijas Town Hall, Belén Roca (PSOE), and the Ecovidrio management technician, Iván González.
The councillor highlighted that "52% of this surplus of waste is caused by the hotel and catering establishments; they have joined the initiative the first time because they are aware that they have to continue collaborating with the environment, that they have to continue helping, that it is essential to separate the waste".
1,100 establishments in 45 coastal municipalities in Andalusia have joined this campaign. In September, Ecovidrio will award the three most sustainable establishments in the region this summer. Last year the chiringuito Royal Beach Pirata won one of the prizes in this campaign. "All our support from the Town Hall and from the Department for Cleaning and absolute collaboration with the establishments so that they can carry out this campaign and win the award from Ecovidrio's Green Flags Movement", concluded Roca.
