Mijas reinforces its brand at the World Travel Market tourism fair

The city aims to recover pre-pandemic UK market figures

The World Travel Market (WTM), one of the most important events in the international tourism market, is kicking off in London. And Mijas, one more year, attends to its call with the aim of strengthening its brand within the Costa del Sol and recovering the figures of the British market before the pandemic. To this end, the Mijas delegation led by the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), and the councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), has travelled to the UK capital. 

"Right now the Costa del Sol is 15 points below the total number of British visitors who visit us and Mijas as the third city in the province of Malaga, and second on the Costa del Sol, has a special responsibility to work to recover that percentage. Fortunately, we are the first British colony in Andalusia and that puts us in a very advantageous position for this work", said González, who wanted to put on the table how "the British in recent years have lived in a climate of socio-economic uncertainty and this context has affected us. But I am convinced that just like their fellow countrymen and women who discovered us 40 years ago, the British will return to their home because Mijas is the home of the British on the Costa del Sol". 

For his part, Martín highlighted "the large number of visitors this year. There is a great desire to travel again and, obviously, Mijas has a great advantage. We are the epicentre of the Costa del Sol and we have segments for all types of tourists. We are taking great care of the British market because it is our main outbound market and because we are the municipality with the largest colony of residents and we want to make them loyal tourists so that once they arrive in our municipality they stay and live there. So we take this new edition as a fantastic opportunity to continue promoting our municipality among this public".  
 

Golf
Mijas is once again at the WTM with its golf segment, which this year adds to its offer of 12 golf courses the opening of La Zambra, an enclave that will allow golf lovers to enjoy 197 rooms in a five-star luxury hotel, and which is the first option that visitors arriving at Malaga airport can find on their way to the destination.

Likewise, the image of white Mediterranean village has been reinforced with an attractive selfie route, which comes to complement a wide range of tourist, gastronomic or cultural options, with which they hope to attract the attention of tour operators and specialised companies such as Wyndham, hotel chain whose representative has held a meeting this morning with the Mijas delegation. 
Destination 'Mijas' disembarks in the 43rd edition of the World Travel Market, which this year recovers all its splendour after two years of limitations due to COVID-19. More than 3,000 exhibitors will meet at the fairgrounds Excel London until November the 9th with the hope of regaining the position lost during the pandemic.
