At the request of the residents of the urbanisation Campo Mijas, the street Cupresos will be renamed, from now on, as Calle Cupressus. As the Councillor for Public Roads, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE), argued in the ordinary plenary session, the Royal Spanish Academy does not include the term Cupresos, hence the decision to change the name. “On this occasion, we have chosen to propose the name Cupressus, verifying that there are no duplicities and that this term is correct, as it is the Latin meaning of the word cypress”, said Cruz. 
The Councillor also reported that “the land office was also consulted on this proposal” and “that the neighbours in the area have already been informed of the inconveniences that this type of modification, however minimal, can cause”. PSOE, Ciudadanos and the two non-attached Councillors voted in favour, while the PP abstained.
