The Malaga team will play against Casademont Zaragoza at 8:00 pm at the José María Martín Carpena, Sports Center in Málaga

The Mijas brand will be present in the match that Unicaja Basketball will play against Casademont Zaragoza. It will be next January 2nd, at the José María Martín Carpena Sports Center, in the capital of Malaga, at 8:00 pm. Mijas, thus, becomes one of the ten municipalities of Malaga participating in the campaign 'Our province plays', which includes various actions to promote our destination and bring the province's fans closer to Unicaja.

According to Antonio López Nieto, President of Unicaja Basketball, "there will be a fan area, dedicated exclusively to Mijas and the brand will appear on the tv LEDs of the court, as well as a promotional video will be broadcast in the court centre".

For his part, the Mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), added that "we will also try to make sure that the kids of our local basketball teams can attend this game so that they can experience the feeling of a live match like this". He also mentioned that "it will be an important event for Mijas from a tourist point of view, especially because of the media coverage these ACB games have throughout the country".

The Mijas Sports Councillor, Andrés Ruiz (Cs), who was also present at the presentation of the event, valued the double effect that this initiative will have. On one hand, Unicaja Basketball adds to its brand a municipality that supports sport unconditionally not only from the core but also, with sporting events, and on the other hand, it is also an opportunity for Mijas, which can promote its destination at a sporting and tourist level".

The agreement reached between the Sports Club and Mijas Town Hall also includes other initiatives for 2022, said López Nieto, "in fact, we are considering the possibility of the Unicaja women's team visiting Mijas to play some matches and thus, have a stronger link with this municipality". In this regard, the Sports Councillor ended his speech by pointing out that "the government team wants to go a step further to continue to make our sport and our municipality more visible, not only in a specific match but also to have a future projection in basketball in Málaga".
