On the occasion of the festivity of Saint Cecilia, patron saint of musicians, and to help those affected by the damage caused by the volcano in La Palma, the Music Bands Department of Mijas Town Hall, in collaboration with the Red Cross, is organising a concert to be given by  Las Lagunas Music Group and Mijas Music Band on Sunday 28th November at noon in  Virgen de la Peña Square (Mijas Pueblo).

"All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the accounts held by the Red Cross to help those affected by the volcano on the island of La Palma", announced the Councillor of the Department, Hipólito Zapico (PSOE), adding that "the Red Cross has a specific aid mechanism for La Palma and we wanted to join them from the music bands of Mijas to help".

The concert will be given by the two municipal music bands. "The Agrupación Musical de Las Lagunas has prepared a good selection of Easter marches and the Banda de Música de Mijas will play, in honour of our patron saint, a series of pasodobles, a short zarzuela and a part of the opera 'Carmen'," said the director of the Banda de Música de Mijas, Francisco Jesús Valcárcel.

From the area, Zapico wanted to "encourage all Mijeños to enjoy this concert on the day of Saint Cecilia and that those who can make a small contribution can contribute something for these families in need," he concluded.
