On Wednesday 10th the Foreigners Department presented the new Mijas Secrets programme for the coming weeks. During the months of November and December, foreign residents of the municipality will be able to enjoy new cultural, historical and gastronomic routes, in different languages, through Mijas Pueblo. According to the councillor for the area, Arancha López (Cs), "the programme is proving to be very successful and in great demand. We are always trying to keep innovating and listening to foreign residents to find out what they would like to know about our municipality, so we will continue working on this type of activity".
According to López, for this occasion, the department is offering some novelties for this activity. There will be four routes, including the highly demanded Mijas Memories on 14th November. As for the following ones, on the 20th there will be an artisan workshop, this time about inlay work, on the 26th there will be a photo tour around the village, and to finish the year, on the 12th and 19th of December there will be a Christmas route where you will be able to taste typical sweets.
For her part, one of the organisers of these routes, Sandra Gallardo, said that "we are more than happy to be able to continue with our proposal of guided tours and activities for the residents of Mijas and from the beginning, we thought it was very important to involve the people of the village, and local businesses because it is not only to show the heritage but to make known and value its local commerce, artisans and local producers". There will be souvenirs that they will also be able to take home on their mobile phones, thanks to the photographic teachings of the photographer and tour guide, Carlos Hevilla. "I like to combine current affairs with touches of the history of Mijas, but at the same time, I want everyone to be able to observe Mijas Pueblo from a different point of view, through their mobile device and with small tools, that we are going to use so that they can take home the best of the memories".
Booking a place
To conclude, López wanted to "invite everyone to participate in order to get to know our municipality better, as Mijas is a very rich town with many nationalities, a lot of history, a lot of cultures and a good gastronomy and, of course, all foreign residents should get to know and enjoy it".
