‘Mijas, a safe outdoor destination’ is the campaign to be presented to the British public

The mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), and the councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), presented on Thursday 28th the tourism promotion that the municipality will be taking to London to the World Travel Market (WTM) from November 1st to 3rd, the international tourism fair in which the Local Council hopes to recover its main international source of tourists, both holiday makers and residential tourism. ‘Mijas, a safe outdoor destination’ is the campaign to be presented to the British public, which will also be promoting the new municipal golf brand ‘Mijas, Sun & Golf’, a pioneering initiative in Andalusia. “Next week we will be in London with an intense schedule of meetings and conversations with professionals in the sector to promote the destination Mijas. We present an unrivalled letter of introduction where nature tourism, gastronomy, the historical-artistic complex and our beaches stand out. In short, it is a very competitive tourist offer that can be enjoyed practically all year round, which makes us a benchmark municipality on the Costa del Sol”, stated the mayor of Mijas.

  • Sun and beach, golf, routes in the mountain and the Coastal Path are the pillars of the campaign |

Therefore, the commitment of the Department for Tourism in Mijas is to promote the offer of outdoor activities as well as to insist on the safety of the destination in all areas. “The pandemic has marked a ‘before and after’ in the way of traveling and that is a reality that we have to take into account. Mijas has a wide range of activities to offer and, precisely because of our location between the mountains and the sea, it allows us to enjoy all kinds of outdoor initiatives, which is something that new post-COVID travellers value very much”, said councillor Martín, who added: “the British public is very loyal to Mijas, and therefore the department is going to make every effort to recover this important market for the revitalization of the local economy”.
