After the success enjoyed last spring, the Department for Foreigners is committed to the second edition of the Mijas Secrets programme, which offers guided tours of the municipality to foreign residents in languages such as English, German and Danish. This was announced this week by the councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), and the councillor for Foreigners, Arancha López (Cs). “This is a way to renew ourselves within the tourism of our own town that was already very successful the first time we launched it last spring and, therefore, we will repeat.

It is the resident foreigners themselves who visit our municipality with professional guides from a more historical, cultural and daily perspective that makes them get a little closer to the Mijas idiosyncrasy and learn more about the city where they live”, said Martín who highlighted: “the promotion through word of mouth that this means among the citizens in their countries of origin as well as the consumption in the town that it also entails”. For her part, López explained that “in this second edition, we repeat some visits that have been in great demand, but we also include novelties to continue learning about cultures, customs and new areas of Mijas, unknown to many of the foreigners who reside here”.

On October 17th and 24th, at 10 hours, there will be a visit to the historic centre of Mijas Pueblo. On October 23rd, the idea is to take the group to know how an organic egg farm works and see what the work of a goat herder is like. “We want him to tell us a little about his day to day life and his passion for these animals. In addition, we will have the opportunity to taste artisan cheese made in Mijas, which also has the distinctive ‘Sabor a Málaga’ seal”, explained Sandra Gallardo, Mijas Secrets guide. The last visit will be on October 28th, to see some of the artisan workshops active in Mijas. The visits will take place with all hygiene guarantees and groups of between 12 and 15 people.
