On Saturday, 16th of October, a new manual and voluntary cleaning day will take place on the beach of Mijas. The Mi MOana collective and the group of divers from ‘Diving With Nic’, in collaboration with the Beach and Environment councils, organise this event. The Royal Beach chiringuito also joins the initiative. “It is an activity that we have been developing every three months on our beaches to collect the remains of waste that we find, while we take a pleasant walk along our coast”, explained the Councillor for the Environment, Arancha López (Cs). Mi MOana was born in Mijas in 2019 and since then “we have many volunteers who come to help us and that is a good sign”, said the co-founder of the collective, Nikky Wegloop. For his part, the head of the Royal Beach chiringuito, Carlos Morales, said: “by now everyone should be more than aware of caring for the environment, but here we continue to fight so that our beaches are always clean”.
The cleaning day will be on Saturday 16th, starting at 10:30 in the morning. There is no requirement to participate and the Royal Beach bar in Calahonda will be the starting point. For the little ones there will be a treasure hunt. The more waste they locate, the more rewards they will collect.
