The Council for Beaches in the Mijas Town Hall is working on improving the Coastal Path. On the one hand, municipal workers have replaced the railing along a section of 150 linear metres, which was quite damaged, mainly by the passage of time, in addition to having been hit by a vehicle. An investment of approximately 4,500 euros was earmarked for this action. The councillor responsible for the area, José Carlos Martín (Cs), visited the path last Thursday 12th, where he explained that “it has been replaced by the usual railing that we have on the path, which is also much stronger than the other and above all we homogenize when maintaining the same material and the same characteristic”. Martín also reported that same day that maintenance works are being carried out in the El Bombo area, where new wooden planks have been placed on the path. “We have worked on an area of ​​256 linear metres, of which we have practically 15 metres left to replace, with a relatively large investment of around 27,000 euros, but which was also necessary to repair some areas of the path that were in a little worse condition than the rest”, clarified the councillor. In addition to the clean-up and maintenance work taking place on the Coastal Path, there is also the work carried out by the beach staff on the shore to level the sand or to remove the invasive algae that are proliferating this summer on our coast. “From here I want to thank them for the immense work they are doing because they start working at 2 in the morning, when everyone is resting, so that the beaches of Mijas are in the best conditions for use first thing in the morning”, concluded Martín.
