For yet another year, humour was the protagonist of the XXXV Villa de Mijas Theatre Festival. The event started on Thursday 15th with the play ‘Dorotea y Margarita’, by the local company Teatro Mijas. And until Sunday the 18th, every night it got better and better.
From the Council for Culture they thanked the attendees for complying with the security measures and going to the venue in advance to avoid crowds, thus guaranteeing “that culture in Mijas continues to be safe”, said the councillor for Culture, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE).
“Mijas is culture and a clear example of this is this festival, which after 35 years still enjoys great vitality and that is thanks to the effort we make at the Department for Culture so that every year we improve the quality of the plays”, said the mayor, Josele González (PSOE) on the first day of the festival.
Many of the attendees repeat year after year. A luxurious line-up of actors and actresses and a unique open-air stage have led this festival to have an outstanding trajectory. “The truth is that it is not the first year that we have come and this summer we are back again”, said one of the attendees, Irene Jaime. Nor does Cristóbal Moreno, a resident of Mijas, miss a single one: “I come every year, since the festival began”. Salvador Fernández said the same: “I never miss it any year. It is a place that I love and I am very lucky to be able to enjoy it”.
