The charity market in La Cala changes its timetables

  • Currently nine groups and associations participate in the market.

The new dates will be July 28th and 29th and August 25th and 26th from 19:00 to 22:00 hours

The solidarity market that takes place in La Cala de Mijas, specifically on the Branch Office Square, the last Wednesday and Saturday of the month will continue during the months of July and August, but in the afternoons, due to the request made by the associations that participate in it.

This was announced by the councillor for Foreigners, Arancha López (Cs). “During July and August the solidarity tables will have an afternoon schedule due to the high temperatures we will have, in this way continue to collaborate with all those groups that currently carry out very good social work”, stated the councillor.

The new appointment will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays, July 28th and 29th and August 25th and 26th, in the same space where they have previously been installed but from 19 to 22 hours.

Likewise, the councillor affirmed that “the nine associations that have been participating, such as Suspiros de Cuatro Patas and Donkey Dreamland, will continue to do so. What’s more, this is an activity in which more and more entities want to join”.
“We hope that neighbours and visitors will approach the market to collaborate with them, as at the stands they can buy some second-hand items or they can simply be informed about the work carried out by these groups”, López concluded.

Interested associations can register by sending an email to the foreigners department: frd@mijas.es

Last market in June

The La Cala Branch Office square was the scene this past weekend of the solidarity market of associations of the municipality. All seek the collaboration of neighbours and visitors to be able to maintain their activity and raise funds for their social works.

Associations in most cases need volunteers. “Here we are taking the opportunity to make ourselves known,” said the volunteer in Suspiros de Cuatro Patas, Laura España. She also explained that “you can collaborate with the association by donating 1 euro a month or going to the shelter, located at Camino de Campanales, to help taking care of dogs and cats”.

On the other hand, the Donkey Dreamland volunteer, Wietse Haak, said that “we have to take care of 21 donkeys and we need people to help in this task”, also going on to state that “we do not receive any help from public institutions so we also need funds to care for the animals”.

Mercy Chapman from the Lions Club, which also sets up a stall on the  Branch Office square,  stated that “neighbours and visitors can come by our stand and get tested for glucose for free”.
