Good news for tourism in Mijas; the municipality closed the month of June with a hotel occupancy rate of 92.48%, coming close to full capacity. This places Mijas among the leading municipalities in the province. According to data provided by the Costa del Sol Hotel Entrepreneurs Association (Aehcos), only Torremolinos recorded a higher occupancy rate.
When compared to figures from the same month last year, Mijas has achieved an increase of 5.16%, and the figure rises to 13.62% when compared to May 2025.
"We are seeing that, little by little, seasonality is starting to break down. It is true that June and September are becoming very good months, because people are looking for better prices, greater availability of accommodation, good weather of course, and also less overcrowding, which is also appreciated", said the vice-president of Aehcos for Mijas, Juan Miguel Marcos, on Friday 4th.

The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), also commented on the data, "which leads us to believe that we are heading into a good season. This is the result of the work we do alongside business owners, who do everything they can to make Mijas a benchmark", she explained.
The councillor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez (Vox), also welcomed the good hotel occupancy figures for June, confirming the positive impact of the work being carried out by the Tourism Department. "These figures are the result of the joint efforts of the entire local tourism sector: hoteliers, restaurateurs, shopkeepers and professionals who contribute daily to making Mijas a welcoming and high-quality destination", he said.
The councillor also stressed that this growth reflects a joint effort, combining institutional promotion with the commitment of the business community. "The Town Hall will continue working to strengthen this synergy and consolidate a varied, competitive and attractive year-round tourist offering", he added.

Occupancy forecasts
Looking ahead to July 2025, forecasts suggest that Mijas will reach an occupancy rate of 93.09%, positioning it as one of the top tourist destinations. As for the Average Gross Impact per Guest per Day, it is expected to stand at 141.71 euros across the province.
"It is true that in order to achieve such high occupancy leves, prices and customer spending are also slightly lower than last year, but even so, these are still very good and encouraging figures", said Marcos, adding that "people are booking at the last minute, so the hotel sector is a little on edge, but we are confident that many people will choose Mijas as their destination because it has everything: beaches, good weather, good accommodation, excellent cuisine, a whitewashed village and countless options for enjoying leisure, sport and nature".
