The Mijas Pueblo Tourist Office is once again opening its exhibition space to the Mijas Craft Association to give visibility to local artisans, their traditional and handcrafted work and their unique and peculiar creations. The councillor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez (Vox), expressed his pride in being able to welcome so many of the municipality's artisans in this space and to show all visitors and tourists the high quality of the municipality's handcrafted items. She also praised the wide variety of artisans in Mijas, who carry out their work in very different categories and arts. According to Jerez, "once again, we are renewing our exhibition here at the Tourist Office with the Craft Association of the municipality. One of the chosen artisans is well known for his long career. We are talking about the silversmith Cristóbal Angulo, who brings a sample of his work that is out of the ordinary". The councillor assured that it is highly recommended to visit their workshops and see them working, in order to understand their art and craft.
Cristóbal Angulo
Local silversmith Cristóbal Angulo shows us some of his traditional work dedicated to religious silverwork. "Coinciding with Lent, I am presenting a sample of pieces of religious silverwork, which is what I usually do. I am also bringing a display case with a series of fashion accessories that my son and I have started to create since, practically, the pandemic. It is a new collection that we are very excited to present here. It is a series of earrings, bracelets and other handmade items using the silversmithing techniques that we use".

According to the young Angulo, "Elegancia Barroca is a new proposal of jewellery chiselled in silver, prepared for different fashion shows. We have already had different events in Malaga. We offer originality, exclusivity, something new, you will not find a piece of jewellery like any other, because each one is different, with different touches and chiselling".
Encarna Bravo
The other author chosen for this April is the ceramist Encarna Bravo, who shows her decorative pieces, sculptures and vessels, in different types of clay and finishes. Her work can also be found in the workshop Puerta del Ágora, in Pasaje de las Golondrinas 8 (Mijas Pueblo). According to councillor Francisco Jerez, "Encarna's work is remarkable for the way she creates tones, how she mixes the clay, the firing temperatures, etc. She does a great job. That is why I invite Mijeños and tourists to come and visit them, also in their workshops, because they always kindly show you what they do, how they do it and why they do it. We are proud to have so many artisans here in Tourism".
