Father Christmas will arrive in Mijas on two wheels

  • The motorbike rally will take place on the 22nd of December at 11 hours
  • The expedition will set off from the Las Lagunas fairgrounds

In collaboration with the Tourism Department of Mijas, several companies in the area are organising their first 'papanoelada' (Santa motorbike ride)

Father Christmas will travel through our municipality on two wheels, but we will not have just one, but hundreds of Father Christmas bikers united for a good cause on the 22nd of December: to raise funds to help the Valencian families affected by last October's DANA. This rally is organised by several companies in the municipality such as Motor Extremo, Bricolaje Hermanos Bosquet and Micamarodante.com, in collaboration with the Tourism Department of the Mijas Town Hall. "All proceeds from the sale of drinks will be given to Caritas Mijas, to be donated to Caritas Valencia for them to distribute it", said the councillor for Tourism, Francisco Jérez (Vox).

The route will start at 11 from the Las Lagunas fairground, heading to Mijas, and from there to La Cala to return, again, to Las Lagunas, visit Fuengirola and finish the tour in the La Vega industrial park, where the organization will treat attendees with a plate of paella. "People from Tarifa, Granada, Malaga and neighbouring municipalities have confirmed their attendance, many fans are expected", said Jerez, who added that “people from abroad coming to this rally means that later they can come to visit Mijas on their own, with more time”.

Where to see it

Among the places where you will be able to see this Santa Claus ride are, according to the organisers, in Las Lagunas, the avenues Mijas and Andalucía, Camino Campanales and Coín; in Mijas Pueblo, around the Town Hall and the ring road; or in La Cala, on the boulevard. "It is very striking to see so many motorbikes, all with some significant element of Father Christmas, the hat, the suit, whatever they want to wear, it is a curious thing that catches people's attention".

At the end of the approximately three-hour route, back at the La Vega industrial park, there will be live music, raffles and stands with motorbikes on display. "We are going to have all kinds of motorbikes on the route, then we will have exhibitions of new motorbikes, which are going to be on the market in 2025 and Moto GP, competition motorbikes that are worth a lot of money and that we don't have the opportunity to see every day", said Antonio Bosquet, a member of the organisation.

Collaboration

The motorbike rally will have the collaboration of the Mijas Local Police and Civil Protection, who will accompany the participants throughout the route and ensure the safety of each of them.

Finally, remember that the event is open to any motorbike enthusiast who wants to join this solidarity initiative, regardless of the cylinder capacity. The organisers recommend that bikers arrive at the Las Lagunas fairground at around 10:15 am, as Mijas Civil Protection will announce the route and provide the necessary instructions to ensure that the event takes place without incident.
