The project is the result of Alan and Jenny Boardman's desire to help the most disadvantaged populations in Africa. Last year they travelled to Gambia, and in January 2025 they will travel to Uganda. In their suitcases, around 3,000 donated spectacles and school materials for the children of this African country with so many needs. According to its promoter Alan Boardman, "Uganda is a country with many problems, with many poor people. We launched the campaign on Facebook and in the press and we put a small box in twenty places so that people could leave their spectacles and collaborate". 

That's how the project began, but volunteers from the Idiliq Foundation took up the idea and set to work looking for opticians and shops that could collaborate. Several churches have also done the same. Finally, this is the result: thousands of spectacles.  

Hernán Lara, ambassador of the Idiliq Foundation said that "this campaign has been aimed at opticians in various towns such as Benalmádena, Mijas and Fuengirola and, in particular, in Linares, where they have contributed more than 2,000 spectacles from an a collection they carried out with a parish". 

Alan and his wife Jenny will personally deliver the proceeds to the most vulnerable towns and villages in the country in January. The Mijas Town Hall is grateful for the work of these volunteers and the continuous work of the Idiliq Foundation in supporting charitable causes. The councillor Melisa Ceballos (PP), responsible for Volunteering, wanted to thank "the Idiliq Foundation and, in this case, also Alan and Jenny, who are the promoters of this campaign and initiative, which is wonderful and helps the neediest children in Africa. We cannot forget those most in need throughout the year, much less at Christmas, when we have to be especially aware that there are people who lack essential resources".
