  • The performers offered a wide repertoire of classical pieces on Sunday 1st of December
  • La cita fue todo un éxito, tanto por la participación como por la calidad de los temas interpretados.

The Choir and Orchestra South District, belonging to the New Apostolic Church, brought over 60 voices and 15 musicians to the stage of the Manuel España Theatre

Last Sunday, 1st of December, the II Christmas Concert for the Elderly of the Choir and Orchestra of the South District of the New Apostolic Church was held, a proposal aimed mainly at the elderly but open to the families of Mijas, organised by the Senior Citizens Department of the Mijas Town Hall. It was a great success, both in terms of attendance and the excellent quality of the performance.

According to the director of the Choir and Orchestra, Carlos Beunza, "the assesment is that the choir has achieved very important things this year. We have also been able to reach more grandparents who have been able to come to the concert, and we have also surpassed ourselves in more difficult works such as Handel's ‘Hallelujah", which we spent a whole year rehearsing and which came out perfectly".

On the stage of the Teatro Manuel España there were more than 60 voices and 15 musicians from 12 different nationalities, and many cities in Spain to collaborate with this solidarity performance, as a contribution of school supplies was requested for the children affected by the DANA.

The performance featured a wide repertoire of popular songs in both Spanish and English, several solos, and even the collaboration of a Scottish piper.

The Mijas Town Hall, and on its behalf the Mayoress, Ana Mata (PP), and the councillor for the Senior Citizens, Silvia Marín (PP), also took to the stage to present the director of the choir with a diploma in gratitude and acknowledgement for his selfless collaboration and always from the heart. The mayoress congratulated all the members of the choir for their excellence and good work. According to Mata, "what better way to start the festive season than listening to this work so well done and which the choir members have been rehearsing for so long. They delight us with these very special Christmas songs and so together we can enjoy a very Christmassy Sunday".

The audience really enjoyed and received a 'pascuero' at the exit in appreciation for their attendance, as well as an banquet that was organised for all the attendees.
