Mijas starts its first Navidad Gourmet route. In December, the establishments that achieve the quality certificate of the Navidad Gourmet brand will be part of a digitalised gastronomic initiative in which they will be able to showcase their best Christmas proposals and their select products for this special time of the year. In addition, the public will be able to take part in small gastronomic events throughout the municipality. 

According to the councillor for Economic Development, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP): “We want to start a journey with the restaurants and gastronomy of Mijas that will allow us to position ourselves as a first class gastronomic destination. This will be done through a public-private alliance to work together to achieve this objective”. 

Through the All Stars Group, Asociación de Amigos de la Alta Gastronomía, the Mijas Navidad Gourmet project proposes three main lines of action: a quality certificate, a gastronomic route and small gourmet events. The director of this group, María Asenjo,  stated that “we are going to launch the Mijas Navidad Gourmet hallmark, an accreditation that will be awarded to the restaurants and gastronomic businesses participating in the initiative, but they must meet certain quality requirements”. 

The gastronomic establishments on the route will include one or more dishes, menus, drinks and cocktails related to Christmas. The gourmet shops must have, for their part, singular products related to Christmas. According to Asenjo, ‘it will be a route through Christmas delicacies in restaurants and establishments that meet all these requirements. It will be digitalised and can be consulted online”.
