The senior citizens of Mijas have an appointment on the 1st of December. It is the second edition of the Christmas Concert which will start at 12:00 hours and will be performed by the Coro Distrito Sur in the Manuel España Theatre. This was announced on Tuesday by the councillor for the Senior Citizens, Silvia Marín (PP), accompanied by the director of the choir, Carlos Daniel Beunza. The councillor recalled the excellent reception that the initiative had last year, which is why the delegation she heads is committed to its continuity. "Our seniors really enjoyed last year's edition and told us that they wanted the activity to be maintained over time, which is why we have organised this second editio, to fulfil their wishes and to give them the opportunity to experience a very emotional and Christmas-like day".

For his part, Carlos Daniel Beunza said that this year's programme combines narrative and music, "even pipers from Gibraltar will participate", and he wanted to highlight the excellent atmosphere that is generated in the theatre: "More than 70 musicians and singers will be on stage, who have been rehearsing all year to make this Christmas edition even better than last year's. It is an initiative designed for the whole family, and especially dedicated to the elderly". The concert will also have a solidarity side, as those who wish to do so can donate school supplies for those affected by the DANA.

The main theme of the show is a grandmother and her grandson reading a Christmas story together. Music will be interspersed throughout the different passages with pieces performed in both Spanish and English, which have been chosen specifically for the occasion, "so that the final result is a perfectly cohesive and emotionally charged whole", they pointed out. The concert will close with the 'Hallelujah’ from George Friedirch Händel's ‘Messiah.

Both Silvia Marín and Carlos Daniel Beunza encouraged the participation of all citizens and reminded that admission is free until full capacity is reached.
