Mijas Weekly. You headed the list of Podemos in the last elections and were a councillor until the end of 2020. Now you are returning to politics.
Reme Leiva. I have decided to return to politics with Adelante Andalucía, which was the breakaway from Podemos in Andalucía. We need a left-wing Andalusian party in the Town Halls.
M.W. Adelante Andalucía is going to compete alone in these elections, outside the left-wing coalition.
R.L. The coalition represents a statist left and our intention is to occupy that space of the Andalusian left.
M.S. What are the pillars of your electoral programme?
R.L. In 2019 I think we were the only party that talked about housing. We see that only luxury urbanisations are being built. The people of Mijas do not have the capacity to be able to afford these houses and we need a town hall that guarantees the right to decent and accessible housing.
M.W. You are concerned about water...
R.L. We have many proposals related to the environment, such as the protection of the mountains and sustainable mobility. Also, that there should be energy efficiency and care for water resources.
M.W. You also have an innovative measure: public supermarkets.
R.L. It is an idea that comes from Adelante Andalucía; public supermarkets that can guarantee food. It would also guarantee that these jobs would be decent and that there would be greater collaboration between producers and consumers.
M.W. Would Adelante Andalucía accept a pact?
R.L. We have always said that we will not co-govern with either PSOE or PP. In certain circumstances, what we would do is facilitate a left-wing government by voting in favour of the investiture.
M.W. Your final message? R.L. We at Adelante Andalucía believe that we have to be brave and finally have a friendly, sustainable and habitable city.
