Mijas Weekly. SoydeMijas is a recently created independent party.
José Antonio Torresano. SoydeMijas was born as a result of discontent. It has no ideology; we are based on human rights, which are not the property of any party.
M.W. What can you tell us about the team you lead?
J.A.T. We want to bring people into politics who can offer enough work experience or experience in their social life to be able to properly manage a department.
M.W. You have included important measures; for example, the one related to the IBI.
J.A.T. It is the number one measure in our programme: the rebate of the IBI, or Property Tax for the first property. This would be a progressive tax rebate. It is a measure that can be carried out because the IBI tax is mainly levied on second homes, holiday homes, commercial premises and land. We want to start applying it to pensioners and families with fewer resources. And it has a double objective, we can attract more people and surpass the 100.000 inhabitants and become an urban centre to have more money from the State, more subsidies, more police, more schools, more civil guards and the long awaited hospital.
M.W. Has SoydeMijas thought about possible pacts?
J.A.T. SoydeMijas has not thought about possible pacts because we are sure that we are going to win these elections.
M.W. Is that the feeling you have?
J.A.T. The feeling we have is wonderful and with the conviction that we are going to win.
M.W. What is the final message of SoydeMijas?
J.A.T. On the 28th of May the citizens have to come to vote. To those who have traditionally voted for other political forces, I would ask them to place their trust in our party and vote for SoydeMijas.
