Aquamijas opens. The Costa del Sol waterpark reopens its doors with total normality. Not only does it recover its capacity, but also its traditional opening Easter date. What's more, this year, it has even been brought forward to other pre-COVID seasons. The most entertaining and refreshing leisure offer on the Costa del Sol is back. The slides and pools of this park, once again, come to life. It opened to the public last Thursday 7th April, and the forecasts are very good, as the director, María del Mar Asesio, says, "we are happy with the response. We already have a lot of public, mostly foreigners; you know that for the Spanish it is still a bit cold, but we are happy and very excited about this season. I think it is going to be a good one".

The limited capacity and the masks' use are a thing of the past, and we will no longer be wearing them inside the park from the 20th. This year, we will, once again, be enjoying the 12 water attractions, and the different swimming pools. Besides, there are new features: more children's entertainment, and a new gastronomic corner. Aquamijas aims to become, one more season, one of the best waterparks in Andalusia, and one more tourist attraction in the municipality.

 

Part of the municipal corporation, headed by the Mayor, attended the park on Monday. Josele González (PSOE) pointed out that "it is a project that is already consolidated, we know how successful it is, and it is one of the Costa del Sol attractions. Let's not forget that Aquamijas along with the Torremolinos waterpark are the only two facilities of this type in our region. Moreover, especially the one in Mijas, due to its characteristics, its size, where families can come to enjoy, is what makes the difference when choosing".

The Councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), stressed that "it is an added value that gives to our tourism. It is one of those companies that has been rooted in our municipality for a long time, that generates work, that generates wealth and, above all, image. Also, it promotes our municipality abroad. So, thank you,  to the waterpark managers for this relationship and collaboration that they have with the Mijas Town Hall''. Besides, the Mijas PP Councillor, Lourdes Burgos said that "the Mijas waterpark is a tourist reference throughout the province of Malaga and Andalusia as every year, they are innovating, and it is more than traditional, this tuning during the winter to start in spring to work hard.

And even more so this year. The tuning of the park, which generates hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, has required an extra effort, as the haze of the last few weeks also stained its pools and slides in red. Now, the water is in perfect condition, although, for many of us, it is still a little cold. But if you are not afraid of it, you know that you can take a dip as the park is open every day. Until May: from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm; in June, until 6:00 pm; and in July and August, until 7:00 pm. Do you dare?
