As was done in the Las Lagunas Sports City, the Department for Sports has installed up to 12 video surveillance cameras in the La Cala Sports Centre, with an investment of close to 10,000 euros, to guarantee the safety of users who practice sports in these facilities.
According to the councillor for Sports in the Local Government in Mijas, Andrés Ruiz (Cs), nine cameras have been placed in the covered pavilion and the other three remaining systems have been installed on the turrets of the Francisco Santana ‘Paquirri’ football field.
The system offers the possibility of monitoring, in real time and from the counseling post, all the sports facilities of La Cala, “as well as including a recording system for security reasons, in case something happens and the Civil Guard or Police need these images to identify any person who carries out an act of vandalism, theft or whatever”.
Video surveillance will also ensure the proper use and maintenance of the facilities assured the councillor. Ruiz also pointed out that “informative posters have been placed on the premises to let the users know that they are being recorded for security reasons, since at no time is it intended to violate the privacy of the persons coming to practice sports in our facilities”.
