After more than a year closed due to the pandemic, the Entrerríos Municipal Youth Hostel will reopen its doors next summer. This year, due to the current health situation, there will be no shifts with overnight stays.

All will be daytime, turns that will last a week and will include lunch, snacks and bus services. As explained on Wednesday 5th by the councillor responsible for this department, Natalia Martínez (PSOE), a total of eight shifts have been established, of which half are aimed at children between 4 and 10 years old, and the other half at children from 10 to 15 years old. “The shifts will be from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm. Every morning a bus will leave from Las Lagunas, La Cala and Mijas Pueblo to take the children to the hostel, and on the way back it will be exactly the same”, explained the councillor.

Due to COVID-19, the Department for Hostels has been forced to reduce the capacity of the facilities, so there will be 50 children per shift, compared to 110 in previous editions. Each turn will be divided, in turn, into five bubble groups of 10 children. “Each group will have its supervisor and will carry out itinerant activities, all outdoors, without mixing with the rest of the groups. As always, the children will carry out water activities, take care of the garden and look after the farm animals, that is, the hostel will not lose its essence despite the circumstances”, added Martínez.

Enrollment

The price per shift is 54 euros for children registered in Mijas and 108 for the non-registered. On May 17th the period will open to collect the registration applications. “You can go to our office at the Las Lagunas Theatre or, if you prefer, to the Mijas Village or La Cala library. There, those interested will be able to collect the application form and deliver it on the date indicated, with the corresponding documentation”, explained the councillor, who also pointed out that families will be able to register their children, at most, in two shifts, “always depending on the number of applications received by the department, although our intention is that as many children as possible enjoy these facilities, with a maximum of 400”.
