The 'Mójate en Mijas' campaign is back, this year in collaboration with eight associations

  • The Mijas water park is once again participating in this campaign, offering up to 2,400 free tickets for access to its facilities
  • Los colectivos que participan en la campaña recibieron hoy las entradas al parque acuático.

Social groups will offer tickets to Aquamijas in exchange for food, school supplies, cleaning products, hygiene products, among others

Many neighbours have been waiting for it, and now it's here. The 'Mójate con Mijas' (Take a Splash with Mijas) campaign is back for the second year running, with the collaboration of social groups and the company Aquamijas, which has donated a total of 2,400 tickets for free admission to its leisure facilities.

This year, the associations collaborating are Adimi, AFA Mijas, AFA Fuengirola-Mijas Costa, Apaffer, Avatés, Cruz Roja, Nueva Cultura del Desarrollo and Sembrando Sonrisas, which have already started distributing these tickets in exchange for food, school supplies, cleaning products and children's hygiene products, among other items. They are doing so at their respective headquarters, thus also helping to raise awareness among residents of the valuable work they do. "In this way, we all benefit: the person who receives the water park ticket, and the association, which receives the requested items and can showcase the work they do", said the councillor for Social Inclusion at Mijas Town Hall, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), during a meeting with these groups on Friday 30th of May.

Each group will post on its social media the items they need and the times when tickets can be collected, always on a first-come, first-served basis. As in previous years, the tickets will be nominative, reserved for residents registered in the municipality, and will also have a designated date for redemption. "At Avatés, we’ve requested food and cleaning products, and we’ve already chosen a date for residents to drop off their donations at our stall, located next to the Las Lagunas Health Centre", said its president, Pepi Moya, who also praised "this initiative promoted by Aquamijas and the Town Hall, which benefits so many families in the municipality".

The president of the Nueva Cultura del Desarrollo association, Tamara Soto, was also delighted with the campaign, "we are going to ask for three items per person, in this case cleaning or hygiene products, because we work with many large families in the municipality and these types of items are very much needed".

The councillor for Social Inclusion took the opportunity during the meeting to thank Aquamijas for its gesture of solidarity: "They have selflessly donated these tickets, as it is true that some families cannot afford them and this way they can visit the water park, while also supporting associations in the municipality that also help many other people". Finally, Alarcón added that, alongside this campaign, the Department of Social Inclusion has reserved a small batch of Aquamijas tickets for Afesol users.
