Do you enjoy cured Iberian ham, cheese and wine? Who doesn’t, right? Well, the Mijas Town Hall and the local company Corte de Autor are organising the third edition of Mijas Ibérica. This year, in addition to the third National Ham Carving Competition, “Popi” Sabor a Málaga, the event brings us a delicious programme full of flavours, music and dancing on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th of June.

One of the new features of the third edition of Mijas Ibérica, which will once again be held in Andalucía Park in Las Lagunas, is that it will take place over two days, both starting at 18 hours. The opening day will give neighbours and visitors the chance to sample a wide variety of products. "The event will begin on the 6th, when we will inaugurate Mijas Ibérica 2025 with live music, a bar, and regional and contemporary dances. It is an event that not only showcases cultural gastronomy, but also the participants who collaborate with Corte de autor, such as the Sabor a Málaga and Jamones Popi", said the councillor for Festivities and Traditions, Silvia Marín (PP), at the presentation of the event.

More than 40 kilos of ham

"This third edition of the gastro-cultural event builds on previous years, expanding its offer beyond the already popular ham carving competition, all thanks to the support of the Mijas Town Hall. So we will have two days to enjoy this event with more than 40 kilos of ham, cheese and local wines", added the event organiser and co-owner of Corte de Autor, Fran Ortiz.

The second day, Saturday 7th of June, the spotlight will be on the ham carving competition, with six top carvers from across Spain competing for a place in the national final in Barcelona. The local carver and organiser of the event, Fran Ortiz, has already secured his spot in the final. "‘I took part in the competition in Benahavís, where I won, so I've already qualified and I'm going straight to Barcelona. Whoever qualifies here in Mijas will be my rival in next year's final", said Ortiz.

If you're looking to savour top-quality Iberian products, now you know when and where to do it.

"We invite everyone to come to Andalucía Park on the 6th and 7th to enjoy the rich flavours and festive atmosphere", encouraged Marín. "We would like to thank the Town Hall and all the collaborators, as more than 40 local establishments have collaborated with this event", said Isabel Alarcón, co-owner of Corte de Autor and organiser of the event, who concluded by inviting "everyone in Mijas to come and taste and enjoy a plate of ham at affordable prices, performances and everything else that is on offer".
