AI is, without a doubt, a tool that is now firmly established across all sectors. On Friday 23rd, organised by the Mijas Foreigners’ Department, an international conference was held for SMEs and the self-employed, aiming to show them how to make the most of Artificial Intelligence in business. This digital tool has become a major ally for businesses, enabling them to delegate administrative tasks, automate processes and boost their workload capacity without the need for heavy investment.
Delivered entirely in English, the conference focused primarily on how to unlock the potential of AI. “Professionals who use artificial intelligence in their day-to-day work are taking part; they have come to talk to us about the advantages and drawbacks of using this tool, which can never replace a person, but can serve as a powerful aid in carrying out their work”, explained the councillor for Foreigners, Mario Bravo (PP). He added that “AI does not replace a lack of knowledge; it complements and accelerates it, because it operates much faster than the human mind, although it certainly has its limitations. It is all about learning to use it properly, because it is a tool from which businesses can benefit hugely”.

Various local entities and associations collaborated with the initiative. “Many people use AI at home for everyday tasks, but then fail to apply it to their work, which is why this conference was organised”, noted Ali Meehan, founder and president of Costa Women, one of the associations collaborating on the event.
SMEs and the self-employed
Around 60 business owners and entrepreneurs took part in the event, which was aimed specifically at small businesses and the self-employed and led by several subject specialists, including AI educator Susanne Drews. exploring what we can achieve with it, because there is so much we can do across communication, operations, and sales, and above all, how we can turn it into an advantage for our businesses”, she explained.
