  • Quema prescrita en la zona de El Chaparral, en el entorno del Camino del Hipódromo.

INFOCA will carry out the operation on Friday 23 October, from 08:00 to 14:00, around Camino del Hipódromo

Mijas Town Hall has announced in a press release that the Andalusian Regional Government’s Forest Firefighting Service, INFOCA, is scheduled to carry out a prescribed burn tomorrow, Friday 23rd October, in El Chaparral, near Camino del Hipódromo.

The operation, according to officials, will take place between 08:00 and 14:00, with the main goal of strengthening fire prevention near residential properties. In this regard, they state that the work will reduce the accumulation of vegetation near housing estates, in an area where woodland and residential zones meet. According to the local authority, this action forms part of the preventive controlled burns INFOCA carries out across urban-wildland interface areas in the province of Málaga.

The operation will cover the same area treated in November 2025 and will take place on private land, with the owner’s consent and under a burn plan specifically drawn up and approved for the work. The Town Hall stresses that smoke may be visible and emergency vehicles present in the area while the operation is underway. Residents are also advised that this action is a planned preventive measure supervised by INFOCA.

Finally, members of the public are asked to respect all signage and follow instructions from personnel, stay clear of the work area, and keep roads open to allow easy access for emergency vehicles.
