The Mijas Danish Club regularly collaborates with Ángeles Malagueños de la Noche and the Nueva Cultura del Desarrollo Association in Mijas by preparing over 400 sandwiches every month for the people supported by these charitable organisations. On the morning of Wednesday 14th, they gathered at their premises in Haza del Algarrobo to carry out this work once again.
The club has 300 members and, throughout its history, has supported many charitable causes to benefit various groups in Mijas; it also carries out other charitable work. “We also have another group of people who give gifts to children at Christmas and on Three Kings’ Day. We do this throughout the year for children at risk of social exclusion”, added the founder of the Danish Club, Jens Erik Gylling.
Kirsten Jensen has been involved for many years and last year managed to donate 1,600 euros. “I’ve been involved for six years because I like helping people who have nothing. I’m a pensioner, so I have plenty of free time. I mainly enjoy doing things with my hands, which is why I bring handmade items here, such as silk purses, key rings and hats. Last year I managed to do my bit, and I hope I can do so again this year”, explained the Danish Club volunteer.
This contribution provides great relief to the vital work done to assist homeless people and those lacking resources. It is an act of solidarity which, month after month, does its bit, something that is so important for those who need it most.
