Mijas Town Hall has allocated 2,673,000 euros to renew the contracts for the provision of all municipal sports services, which employ 106 instructors through the new successful bidders, Choosing Big and Serveo. All these staff members have been transferred from the previous season and will continue their work this Wednesday, 7th October, for a period of one year.
According to the councillor for Sport, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), the contract is divided into two lots: one for swimming instructors and lifeguards (awarded to Serveo for 638,139 euros); and another for instructors in all other disciplines, plus caretakers and maintenance staff, awarded to Choosing Big for 2,034,909 euros.
Specifically, the municipal sports services include swimming lessons, Pilates, aerobics, toning, spinning, table tennis, tennis, badminton, Zumba, basketball, handball, football, gym, athletics, equine therapy, adapted sports, activities for senior citizens, karate and judo. These classes are attended by more than 6,000 residents of Mijas, the councillor highlighted.

These municipal sports services in Mijas are provided at the Antonio Márquez football pitch in Osunillas, the Mijas Pueblo gym, the Osunillas indoor sports hall, the Osunillas tennis court, and the Osunillas municipal swimming pool; the La Cala football ground, the La Cala indoor sports hall and the La Cala culture and sports centre. They are also available at the La Cala tennis court, the La Cala indoor swimming pool and the Las Lagunas sports complex, both in the outdoor and indoor facilities, as well as at the Las Cañadas indoor sports hall.
