This Friday, 2nd October, at 17:30, the Mujeres Mijitas association is organising a talk with Benigno Ruiz entitled ‘El planeta colapsa. ¿Vamos a hacer algo o qué?’ (The planet is collapsing. Are we going to do something about it or what?). At 19:30, at the premises of Nuevo Enfoque, the collective photography exhibition ‘Fuerzas opuestas’ will open; and at 21:00, at the Peña Flamenca El Gallo, a tribute concert to Pedro Maldonado will take place, featuring Elena Pino ‘La Cuqui’ on vocals and Juan Moreno on guitar.

On Saturday 3rd, from 10:30, the Mijas Town Hall auditorium will host the 11th Villa de Mijas History and Ethnography Conference, featuring eleven speakers who will present their research on the municipality; the conference will run throughout the morning and afternoon. At 14:00, at the El Jinete restaurant, the animal welfare organisation ACE Shin is organising its autumn charity lunch. And at 20:00, the Las Lagunas Theatre will host the ‘Noches Encendidas’ concert, a tribute to Michael Jackson and Queen.

And next week, we would like to remind you that from the 5th to the 7th, the Department for Senior Citizens is organising ‘Seniors’ Week’ at the active participation centres in Las Lagunas and Mijas Pueblo and at the La Cala Senior Citizens’ Centre between 17:30 and 21:00, where there will be a participatory scavenger hunt, a games fair and dancing. The ‘La Pequeña Cuba’ festival has been postponed, with no new date yet set, due to the inclement weather forecast for this week.
