Concerts, exhibitions, flamenco, cultural offerings, and sports and charity events also feature on the agenda

The schedule of acts of worship dedicated to the Virgen de la Peña continues, with the Mijas Fair 2026 set to begin in just a few days’ time. Scheduled religious events include the novena in honour of the patron saint, running until 7th September, which includes the rosary, a sung Mass and a floral offering, every afternoon from 19:30 at the Church of the Inmaculada Concepción.

On Sunday 6th September, the presentation of children to the Virgen de La Peña will take place at 18:30, once again at the parish church. Later that evening will come one of the main events leading up to the Mijas Fair: the opening address for the festivities, delivered by Mijas-born journalist Mari Carmen Jaime Marmolejo. The event will take place at the Miguel González Berral Municipal Auditorium at 21:00 and will also feature a performance by the dance group from Reme Fernández’s school.

Cultural, charity and leisure events

This Friday, 4th September, there is also an event at the Nuevo Enfoque Mijas headquarters, located in the El Coto residential area, which hosts the opening of the VII Liga Afopriego photography exhibition at 19:30, part of the Fotofilia photography series. The exhibition will be open until 30th September.

On Saturday 5th September, another charity event is scheduled: an exhibition by Dr Carlos Bentabol at Mijas Dental Care, located at Calle Rumanía, 1, in Mijas Golf. The presentation will take place at 16:00 and will feature live music and a raffle for an artwork. Admission costs 5 euros, with proceeds going to the victims of the earthquake in Colombia.

Also on Saturday, the animal welfare organisation Suspiros de Cuatro Patas is holding an open day, from 18:00 pm to 20:00, at its shelter (opposite Maderas Hermanos Gámez, Las Lagunas). Visitors can meet the dogs in foster care and find out about the adoption process, as well as ways to lend a hand. There will be a charity collection of cleaning products, and the group’s merchandise will also be on sale.

And last but not least, remember that you can also enjoy the final days of The Champions Burger, The Big Game, which will remain open to the public until the evening of 6th September, from 12:00 to 24:00.
