The La Cala de Mijas Fair has several more days of fun and music to come; until it ends on Sunday 26th of July, you can enjoy its programme of concerts and activities. On Friday 24th of July, there will be day fair festivities next to El Torreón in La Cala from 14:00; music and a great atmosphere running until closing time at 20:00. At the fairground, at 22.30, there will be a performance by Malamanera, a famous band from Tarifa (Cádiz) that is very popular in southern Spain. They are known for their energetic live shows, blending rumba, reggae and ska with covers of classics. At midnight, Nancys Rubias, the group led by Mario Vaquerizo, will take to the stage.

On Saturday 25th of July, another key day of the fair, the ‘Most lively Men and Woman’, ‘Best Flamenca’ and ‘Mister Ugly 2026’ will be chosen during the daytime fair at 17:00. The day fair will conclude with a performance by the cover band Longplay. At the Municipal Booth, at 23:00, there will be a performance by Las Rodes, a dynamic urban flamenco and pop duo formed by Cordoban sisters Amara and Coral Rodríguez Escudero. From 00:30, attendees can enjoy another major performance by Sergio Contreras.

At 20:00, a horse parade is scheduled to set off from El Chaparral School and finish at the Peña Flamenca del Sur.

The entertainment programme continues on Sunday 26th of July with a water party at the day fair from 12:00 to 16:00. The main event at the Municipal Booth will take place at 23:00, featuring a headline performance by Melody.

Cinema

The Teatro Manuel España is hosting the second session of the 1st Andalusian Short Film Showcase this Thursday, an initiative organised by Cineclub Al-Ándalus and the Culture Department, in collaboration with the El Jardín de Epicuro Cultural Association. The event aims to promote independent Andalusian cinema and raise the profile of filmmakers, particularly those from Málaga. Screenings include audiovisual works by Pedro Sánchez Román with his short film 'La guinda del pastel'; Arantxa Suso with 'Mientras estemos vivos'; Fran Kapilla with 'Disonancias'; Ana Cayuela and Leonor Jiménez with 'Y tú más'; and Sameer Teckchandani with 'Sarco'. The event begins at 20:00.

Exhibition

On Friday 24th July, another cultural event takes place at 20:00: the La Cala Cultural Centre hosts a new exhibition featuring relief paintings by Mijas-based artist Daaf Zwiers. The exhibition will remain open to the public until 7th September. Zwiers is a visual artist renowned in both the Netherlands and Spain for his pictorial work.

Piano concert

On Sunday 26th from 19:00, the 7th Málaga International Piano Festival draws to a close at the Manuel España Theatre, featuring the Málaga Symphony Orchestra, conducted by José Luis López Antón, accompanying the winning students of the competition that concludes with this closing concert.
