The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), accompanied by the councillor for Youth, Melisa Ceballos, has presented the various activities for young people that will take place this summer in the town. Under the name ‘Territorio Juventud’, these activities are designed to ensure young people have as active a summer as possible.
The meeting point for the activities will be Torreón beach in La Cala, where young people will be able to take part in various sports free of charge. They will be able to try their hand at paddle surfing, big paddle surfing, kayaking, beach tennis, volleyball, snorkelling, beach football and recycled totem workshops.

According to Mata, “this is a way of promoting sport, and water sports in particular, in Mijas. We have a superb coastline, which has been awarded the ‘Q’ for Quality mark. What’s more, this is a social activity that takes place in a group setting with other young people. Our beach gives us the chance to enjoy surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, beach volleyball and kayaking, sports that young people love so much”.
The activities will take place every Friday and Saturday in July and August from 17:00 pm to 20:00. The main attractions will be paddle surfing and kayaking, although if weather conditions do not permit these, the other land-based activities will be organised instead. Specialised instructors will advise, assist and support the participants.
Each day will consist of six 30-minute sessions, with a capacity of 200 participants per day divided into different groups.

Manuel Araujo, managing director of Exploramas, the company operating the service, said: “We’ll be here every Friday afternoon and Saturday to welcome any young people who drop by. Here they’ll find plenty of fun, nature, the environment and sustainability, and we’re open to anyone who wants to take part and enjoy themselves. There are seven of us running the programme, all Mijas locals and qualified instructors.”
Registration
Young people interested in taking part can register for the activities via the QR code, booking their place for each day in advance on a weekly basis. Registration will open every Wednesday from 10:00 until all places are filled, with the first day of registration being the 1st of July.
