Mijas Town Hall has awarded the joint venture (JV) formed by Inditec and Ituval the contract for the cleaning and maintenance of green spaces at the Gran Parque de Mijas, the largest urban green space in Andalusia, covering 270,000 square metres.
This contract, worth 1.95 million euros a year with a duration of three years, represents one of the most significant urban landscaping commissions on the entire Costa del Sol.
This is the third major contract awarded for the Gran Parque. Last March, the contract for the upkeep and maintenance of facilities and equipment was formalised with Clece FS for a total of 1.3 million euros; while security and the opening and closing of the park were awarded to Clece Seguridad for 1.17 million euros in October 2025. All three contracts have now been formalised and are in force.
As improvements within this lot, the contract includes the installation of 6,000 square metres of awnings, to be fitted in squares, children’s play areas and outdoor gym zones, as well as the provision of a dozen public toilets, all of which are fully accessible.

A comprehensive park
The park, located in Las Lagunas, is home to more than 2,900 trees and 20,000 plants. Its facilities include basketball and five-a-side football pitches, five children’s play areas, a skate park, a splash park, a dog park, an amphitheatre with a capacity for 1,500 people and a navigable lake that serves as the central feature of the landscape. The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), described it during the official handover ceremony as “the Costa del Sol’s great green lung”.

Inditec is the environmental works and services division of Grupo Ortiz, one of Spain’s leading construction and engineering groups. The company operates in four main areas: landscaping, including the design, execution and maintenance of parks and gardens; waste management; rural environments; and environmental equipment.
Ituval, for its part, is an environmental innovation and technical engineering services company founded in 2004. Specialising in the maintenance of public green spaces, its work encompasses pest control, reforestation schemes and its own greenhouse crops.
The Inditec-Ituval joint venture already has a track record of collaboration on similar green space maintenance contracts, including those for the local councils of Cádiz, Marbella and Rincón de la Victoria, among others.

Water savings
From an environmental perspective, the project involved a comprehensive review of the vegetation to adapt it to the semi-arid climate of the Málaga coast. The new selection of trees and shrubs reduced irrigation water consumption from 1,350 cubic metres per month to just 350, a 74% saving that makes the park a benchmark in sustainable landscaping, according to the Town Hall. The maintenance entrusted to the Inditec-Ituval joint venture must preserve this ecological balance and ensure the health of the plant life, which comprises species adapted to local conditions.
Beyond its ecological value, the park also fulfils a key social function: its sports, cultural and children’s facilities make it a space for community life that meets, as the Town Hall highlights, “a long-standing demand in Mijas”.
