The Mijas Town Hall has received approval from the Junta de Andalucía for the revision of its Territorial Emergency Plan, a “key” document, according to the town hall, which will enable the municipality to act more swiftly, effectively and in a more coordinated manner in the face of risk situations such as fires, floods, accidents or adverse weather phenomena.

The councillor for Civil Protection, Francisco Jerez (Vox), explained that this approval means “having an updated plan adapted to the current reality of Mijas, an increasingly large and complex municipality, with thousands of residents spread across urban centres, urbanisations and outlying areas”.

Jerez noted that “the main objective is to improve coordination between all the services that intervene in an emergency, such as the Local Police, Fire Brigade, Civil Protection and health services”. According to the councillor, “this plan allows us to act sooner, coordinate better and offer a more effective response to residents”.

“Key” document

The new document, according to the Town Hall, incorporates tools that allow certain situations to be anticipated before they turn into a serious emergency. “It is not just a matter of reacting when something happens, but of being prepared and mobilising resources in advance if there is a risk”, said Jerez.

  • Esta homologación supone una garantía de que el plan cumple con todos los requisitos necesarios para proteger a la población ante cualquier emergencia. |

The Town Hall has underlined that this approval also serves as a guarantee that the plan meets all the necessary requirements to protect the population in any extraordinary situation.

Finally, the councillor reiterated the Civil Protection department’s commitment to the safety of the municipality. “We continue to work to ensure that Mijas is prepared for any situation and that residents have the peace of mind of knowing that planning, coordination and means exist to act when necessary”, he concluded”, he concluded.
