The Mijas Town Hall, through the Local Police, carried out an extensive range of operations across the municipality during April, aimed at ensuring community harmony, public safety and compliance with regulations. During this period, officers processed a total of 170 reports, 94 of which were for breaches of the Public Safety Act and 76 related to municipal ordinances. Additionally, 19 arrests were made and 42 preventive security and documentation checks were conducted.
In the field of public safety, of particular note are the 69 reports for drug consumption in public spaces, as well as 12 for disrespecting law enforcement officers and eight for possession of prohibited weapons. These actions are the result of direct interventions in public areas and surveillance work that enables the detection of behaviour affecting safety and order.
Regarding community coexsistence, actions focused on anti-social behaviour with a direct impact on residents’ daily lives. In this regard, 41 reports were processed for disposing of organic waste outside designated areas, 18 for failing to pick up dog waste or dilute dog urine, and four for having pets off-lead.

19 arrests made
In addition to these figures, 19 arrests were made during the month, linked to various police interventions in the municipality, highlighting the officers’ capacity to respond to situations requiring immediate and firm action.
The first deputy mayor and councillor responsible for the Local Police, Juan Carlos Cuevas Dawson (Vox), noted that “these figures reflect the daily work carried out on our streets to ensure safety and compliance with the law”, adding that “the combination of enforcement and checks allows for effective action in both prevention and addressing offences”.
Furthermore, Cuevas Dawson emphasised that “a significant part of these interventions is related to anti-social behaviour that we must all correct together”, and insisted that “the cooperation of residents is essential to keeping Mijas clean, orderly and safe”. Finally, he concluded that “respect for the rules is the basis for proper coexistence throughout the municipality”.
