Overcoming the fear of new technologies and making the most of them. That was the main objective of the talk given at the Employment Promotion building on Thursday 19th by Juan José Rodríguez, founder of Boca a Boca Digital and educator on the YouTube channel ‘Juanjo Digital’. The talk, entitled ‘The New Working System: Artificial Intelligence (AI)’, was an initiative promoted by the Costa del Sol Business Circle to help the local business community optimise their daily processes. During his intervention, the expert offered a very pragmatic approach so as not to overwhelm the attendees. “We teach what things to take into account before automating and we use a single tool that helps to centralise information and generate content”, explained Rodríguez, who assured the AI is not here to destroy jobs, but rather to “amplify soft skills and the the capacity for rapid adaptation to change”.

For their part, the president of the Costa del Sol Business Circle, Adolfo Trigueros, and the managing director in Mijas, Pablo Domato, highlighted the need to provide continuous value to local businesses. “We want small business owners and the self-employed to see how AI can solve many of their day-to-day tasks, losing that initial uncertainty”, said Domato. The group announced that they are already preparing new activities to foster synergies, such as an upcoming wine tasting in La Cala and sporting events planned for May and June.

The event was held in collaboration with the Town Hall. The councillor for Employment Promotion, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), expressed his gratitude for this “close public-private alliance that allows us to boost business competitiveness”. Maldonado underlined that AI is a current technology that all sectors must internalise, being vital “not only for the viability and future of companies, but also as a fundamental tool for updating in the active search for employment”, in the same line of dynamism demonstrated by the recent Job Fair held in the municipality.

In this sense, Maldonado announced that in the coming days, new initiatives arising from the synergies created at said fair will be made known. “A security company has asked us for candidates for work and next week we will make the presentation. They need many people, and there will also be training in that sector”, the councillor revealed.
