Zumba becomes a ‘key piece’ for Cudeca

  • 130 people took part in a charity event on Saturday to raise funds for the palliative care unit
  • La jornada se desarrolló en un ambiente al aire libre en el que no faltó la actividad física, el baile, la convivencia y, por supuesto, la solidaridad. |

Instructors from across the Costa del Sol offered two hours of outdoor sport and dance to support the organisation's ‘You are a key piece’ campaign

On Saturday 21st of February, Cortijo Don Elías hosted a Zumba masterclass in aid of Cudeca. The event brought together more than 130 people, with instructors from all over the Costa del Sol collaborating to offer two hours of sport. The aim was to support the ‘You are a key piece’ campaign, which funds the palliative care hospitalisation unit. This campaign is entering its final week and needs our support to achieve its goal of maintaining this unit, a challenge that aims to reach 355,000 euros by the 28th of February.

The spokesperson and volunteer for the Cudeca Foundation, Grissell Gerena, explained that “all the funds will go directly to the hospital where we care not only for cancer patients, but also for people with advanced illnesses and their families. Through this cause, everyone participating here today is a key piece”.

Masterclass

The day took place in an outdoor setting filled with physical activity, dancing, community spirit and, of course, solidarity. "It's been a while since we organised a Zumba masterclass with the help of the Idiliq Foundation, so it was about time we put something together. We have a team of Zumba instructors from across the Coast and I can always count on them to collaborate. They are always willing to help, which is truly wonderful", said Zumba instructor and Idiliq Foundation spokesperson Marieke Van Der Velde.

The masterclass was a great success, and to make it possible, the Mijas Town Hall also played its part, according to the councillor for Sports, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), “We provide the logistics, the space, and the equipment they need to carry out this activity. From the Town Hall, we must collaborate with these companies and associations that need to raise funds. In addition, this is an event that also benefits the people of Mijas”. Helping has never been so easy, or so healthy, and by supporting this cause, everyone who participated in the event became a key piece.
