We invite you to visit an exhibition currently on display at the La Cala Cultural Centre. Two artists, Victoria Tsekidou and Shirin Moarefi, with totally different styles, present a joint exhibition full of colour and imagination; two very different worlds that, at the same time, combine perfectly. The exhibition proposes an unusual encounter: a dialogue between two artistic universes which, far from cancelling each other out, expand one another.

"It's a mixture of surrealism, animals, portraits... a very imaginative, very colourful project, which also highlights, above all, that they are female artists, and that's quite important, to give them tthis opportunity", said the exhibition's curator, Rafael Fernández, during the opening of the exhibition on Friday 13th.

 

Two worlds

Each artist presents a selection of personal works that reflect their identity, their visual language and their intimate way of engaging with painting. However, the heart of the exhibition beats in those pieces created together, where collaboration becomes an act of risk and discovery. "This is the first time we have done this joint project, it is based on experience and we are doing it as an experiment to mix different techniques, different visions that can fit together and merge into one piece", said Victoria Tsekidou.

"This is the first time I've exhibited here in Mijas because I've only been living in Malaga for nine months. I also lived in Barcelona for two years, and now I want to be able to work solely on my art, and being here is a good opportunity for me", added Shirin Moarefi, who said she has been painting since she was a child. "I really like art, and colour is always present in my life", she said. "I really like colours, and I usually paint through my emotions. My inspiration is based on the relationships I have with other people in life, and that is my inspiration for painting every day", she pointed out.

'Echoes beyond mind'

'Echoes beyond mind' is the name of the exhibition. Tsekidou and Moarefi experiment with the coexistence of two techniques, two perspectives and two sensibilities on the same canvas. The process is both a crossover and a negotiation: layers that overlap, gestures that respond to other gestures, silences that find an echo. The result is not a homogeneous synthesis, but a living, dynamic fusion, where differences remain visible and fertile.

The exhibition invites the viewer to cross that intermediate territory where two worlds and two souls meet without losing their uniqueness. It is a space for experimentation, mutual listening and transformation, where painting becomes a shared language and the canvas a meeting place.

A joint project, said Tsekidou, "that has helped us both to step out of our comfort zone". Working together, the painters say, has been very positive for them and they hope to open up new paths from now on. For visitors, the exhibition is an opportunity to travel through the world of imagination. It can be visited until the 23rd of March.
