Acosol has begun the second phase of the works to install the local water supply network in the Majadilla del Muerto area. This project was designed and put out to tender by Acosol and, according to the company, "will be financed by the beneficiary residents themselves".
This second phase, part of a revised project, has a budget of 1,606,880 euros. It includes a 2,081-metre extension of the network, bringing the total length of the installed infrastructure to 7,781 metres with 262 service connections. The estimated timeframe for the completion of this expansion is four months.
These works include a pumping station, the distribution network, a storage reservoir, earthworks and paving.
According to Acosol, the aim of this project is to supply residents with water in order to guarantee the quality and safety of domestic consumption and, at the same time, prevent the depletion of underground aquifers.
This project involves the construction of a main supply system consisting of a feeder connection to the water mains, a pumping station, and a 350-cubic-metre storage reservoir located on Calle Tramo de Unión, to the north of the rural area.
Growth
To this end, a distribution network of approximately 7 kilometres of 110 mm diameter polyethylene piping will be laid, allowing for future growth in the area. The individual service connections for each property owner who has requested the service will be linked to this network. Once completed, Majadilla del Muerto will no longer need to rely on the Sierra de Mijas aquifer for its water supply.
