The Mijas Town Hall continues to work to mitigate the effects of the wind storm that has been affecting the municipality. In fact, the Parks and Gardens teams are out on the streets repairing the damage, as there has been a significant loss of vegetation, valued at more than 90,000 euros, with labour costs bringing the total to 112,000 euros.
One of the worst-affected areas was Las Cañadas School (Las Lagunas), where a perimeter wall collapsed, damaging the climbing plants that covered it. A fallen tree was also reported at the same site.

In Mijas Pueblo, two trees fell, specifically in the La Muralla and El Compás areas. Meanwhile, four pine trees were blown down in Los Jarales and at the old dog pound (on the Mijas-Alhaurín el Grande road). Damage was also reported in Fuente del Algarrobo, Buenavista, and the Racecourse area, alongside the loss of two date palms on Calle Santa Laura.

"Municipal crews have been working tirelessly for several days to handle any unforeseen situations. The ground is saturated, which, combined with the instability of the trees and the strong winds, causes them to fall. We are there to remove hazards and clear any obstacles", explained the councillor for Parks and Gardens, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP).
