The Entrerríos Youth Hostel is not operational to host the Semana Blanca camp. According to the Mijas Town Hall, the recent storms and winds have caused significant damage to the facilities, "which is already being addressed", and announced that they hope to have everything ready for the reopening of this municipal facility by Easter.

The successive storms this winter have severely affected the Entrerríos area, with heavy rain and strong winds. The consequences have been noticeable in the hostel's facilities, according to the Town Hall. The councillor responsible, Melisa Ceballos (PP), stated that "we are currently carrying out refurbishment and improvement work here. We have had some quite severe storms that have affected the hostel. However, we have not been able to complete repairs yet as we had many other incidents to deal with across the municipality."

According to municipal officials, the hostel does not meet the necessary safety conditions to guarantee the well-being of everyone: children, monitors and staff, and at present, the damage prevents it from opening. According to the councillor for Operational Services, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), "we have found broken thatching, trees that need to be secured as the ground is very loose, large trees that could fall at any moment, broken tiles, damp in the classroom and problems with the cornicing. We want to ensure that the facilities are in perfect condition so that when Easter arrives, our children, monitors and parents can rest assured that it is a safe environment".

Play centre

The Town Hall has announced an alternative play centre at the Tamixa school in Las Lagunas, with capacity for 75 children, "which is an additional 15 places compared to the hostel, thus increasing the capacity for work-life balance".

Easter

The councillor responsible has stated that they hope to resume activities at the hostel for Holy Week and welcome all children who want to enjoy a holiday in the nature there. According to Ceballos, "at Holy Week, we will have the hostel fully open and available to our children . We are very mindful of the safety of both our children and the monitors. In this case, the Town Hall has decided not to provide the service during White Week. The Town Hall explained that "the municipal hostel will be fully operational during Holy Week, as always, to welcome the children of Mijas so that they can enjoy everything this facility, so beloved by the people of Mijas, has to offer".
