The three firefighters from Mijas who joined the emergency team operating in the municipality of San Martín del Tesorillo (province of Cádiz) last Saturday, following the floods in the area focused their work on preventive inspection and monitoring of the Guadiaro River as it passes through San Martín de Tesorillo and El Secadero.
They were also on alert for possible search and rescue operations, although fortunately they did not have to take action. They did, however, intervene to clear a damaged cornice.

"This offer was made last Thursday, 5th of February, to the Provincial Firefighters Consortium and 112, explaining the equipment that could be made available, and based on this, they organised the shifts", explained Francisco Jerez (Vox), councillor for the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection, last Saturday. Helso stressed that "24-hour shifts were carried out to give some respite to the firefighters" from other towns who have also been participating in these efforts.
