The 'Eres pieza clave' (You are a key piece) campaign, promoted by the Cudeca Foundation, has now reached its decisive phase. The aim of this appeal is to raise the 355,000 euros needed to cover the costs of its Hospitalisation Unit, a vital service that guarantees dignity and care for people with advanced illnesses in our municipality and across the province.
The manager and medical director of the Cudeca Foundation, María Luisa Martín Roselló, explained that although the initial response from the public has been positive, raising around 110,000 euros, this figure is still insufficient to ensure the continuity of the service. Martín Roselló pointed out that "we need the collective involvement of society" and recalled that, although they have a contract with the Andalusian Regional Government, "a very significant part of the budget depends exclusively on the solidarity of citizens to maintain the quality that defines Cudeca".

The value of care
Every year, the Hospitalisation Unit cares for 240 patients and their families in a completely selfless manner. Martín Roselló praised the work of the multidisciplinary team, emphasising that the aim of these funds is to ensure that "the psychologist, social worker or physiotherapist can continue to provide that extra care" which is essential in the most difficult moments of life. "Becoming part of that care is like putting a piece into the puzzle that is caring for a patient", said the medical director.

The foundation has provided various channels so that residents of Mijas and the rest of the province can make their contributions easily. The most direct method is Bizum, using code 07761 (option to donate to NGOs). Donations can also be made online at www.erespiezaclave.org or by bank transfer. Martín Roselló insisted that "sometimes we don't donate because we think it's not much, but even 5 or 10 euros help", encouraging citizens not to miss the opportunity to collaborate in this final stretch of the campaign.
